The Bible stands at the heart of the Catholic faith, for it is from the word of God that we learn about Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. In it is a lifetime's worth of reading and prayer.
If you would like to find out more about what specifically the Church believes, then the Catechism will be of inestimable value, especially since, in explaining the faith of the Church, it refers not only to Scripture, but the second pillar of the Catholic faith - Sacred Tradition - also.
The Catholic Church today cannot be understood without reference to the Second Vatican Council, which took place between 1962 - 1965. While the Code of Canon Law will be of most interest to those who seek greater understanding of the laws of the Church.
