General Election Letter
On 5th May 2005 the people of Great Britain and Northern Ireland went to the polls to elect the men and women who they wanted to represent them in the next Parliament. Before the election, Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor and the bishops of England and Wales published a letter in which they gave their thoughts on what issues they felt should guide Catholics when casting their vote. Now that the election has passed, the letter is out of date; the issues it raises, however, are perennial: marriage, education and refugees amongst others. For that reason, the letter is made available here in the archive for you to read.
